Currency

The currency in Japan is the Japanese Yen (JPY), symbolized as ¥. Banknotes are available in denominations of ¥1,000, ¥2,000 (less common), ¥5,000, and ¥10,000, while coins come in values of ¥1, ¥5, ¥10, ¥50, ¥100, and ¥500.

If you're planning to visit Japan, cash is widely used, though credit cards are becoming more accepted. It's also a good idea to carry smaller denominations and coins for vending machines, transportation, and small shops

Official Language Spoken

While Japanese is the only official language, the government recognizes the importance of preserving Ainu (spoken by the indigenous Ainu people in Hokkaido) and Ryukyuan languages (spoken in Okinawa and the Ryukyu Islands) as part of Japan's cultural heritage. However, these languages are not officially designated as national or co-official languages.
